CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A 53-year-old man was arrested while four illegal firearms and assorted ammunition were confiscated during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Digmala, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija, on July 2, police said.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Nueva Ecija, the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office, and the Bongabon Municipal Police Station.
Seized during the operation were one caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .40 pistol, one caliber .357 pistol, and one caliber .38 pistol. Police also recovered a barrel assembly and a magazine assembly for a caliber .22 firearm, 22 rounds of caliber .45 ammunition, and three rounds of caliber .22 ammunition.

The search was conducted by virtue of Search Warrant No. 2026-30 issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 111, in Tarlac City. The suspect is currently under the custody of the Bongabon Municipal Police Station pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
All confiscated firearms and other pieces of evidence were turned over to the Regional Special Operations Group–Regional Intelligence Division 3 (RSOG-RID3) for proper disposition.
Police Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez, Regional Director of PRO3, said the successful operation reflects the police organization’s intensified campaign against loose firearms and its commitment to preventing the proliferation of illegal weapons in communities.
He also urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting the illegal possession of firearms and other criminal activities, stressing that strong police-community cooperation remains essential in maintaining peace and order across Central Luzon. (Jason de Asis)
