SUBIC BAY FREEPORT— The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales, through the Negosyo Center Subic Bay, is supporting the conduct of the “Bazaar Behind Bars” at Ayala Malls Harbor Point in Subic Bay Freeport from June 1 to 4, 2026, as part of efforts to promote rehabilitation, entrepreneurship, and community participation among Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
The four-day event features a variety of handmade products crafted by PDLs, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their skills and generate income through the sale of their products.
According to organizers, the bazaar highlights the potential of PDLs to rebuild their lives through productive and meaningful livelihood activities. It also aims to raise public awareness on the importance of supporting rehabilitation programs that help prepare PDLs for reintegration into society.
The initiative underscores the value of collaboration among government agencies and private-sector partners in advancing rehabilitation efforts. The event is being implemented through the joint efforts of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and its stakeholders, including DTI-Zambales, Ayala Malls Harbor Point, the Local Government of Olongapo City, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), and the Olongapo City Police Office.
Organizers said the activity demonstrates how partnerships can create opportunities for PDLs to develop skills, earn livelihoods, and contribute positively to their communities upon their release.
