MANILA — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said consumers will see slightly reduced overall transmission rates this May after transmission charges declined in the April 2026 billing period.
NGCP said the overall average transmission rate dropped by 8.8 percent to P1.5983 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), down from P1.7526 per kWh in March.
The decrease was attributed to lower transmission wheeling rates and ancillary services (AS) charges.
Transmission wheeling rates, which cover NGCP’s cost of delivering electricity through the grid, fell by 14.16 percent to P0.6028 per kWh from P0.7022 per kWh in the previous billing period.
Meanwhile, average AS rates declined by 5.02 percent to P0.8088 per kWh from P0.8516 per kWh.
Ancillary services are support services procured from power generators and the Reserve Market to maintain grid stability and ensure a balance between electricity supply and demand.
“For the May 2026 electric bill of end consumers, NGCP charges only 60 centavos per kWh for the delivery of its services,” the company said.
NGCP added that ancillary services continue to account for the largest portion of transmission charges and clarified that it does not earn from AS rates, as these are paid directly to generating companies.
