PRO3 Expands School Safety Initiatives Through Stronger LGU Partnerships

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) is expanding its school safety initiatives across Central Luzon by encouraging all Police Provincial Offices (PPOs) and City Police Offices (CPOs) to strengthen partnerships with local government units (LGUs) and community stakeholders to enhance campus security.

The initiative follows a successful collaboration between the Bulacan Police Provincial Office (Bulacan PPO) and the City Government of Malolos, which turned over handheld metal detectors to Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School on June 25, 2026.

The turnover ceremony was attended by Police Colonel Jay B. Baybayan, Acting Provincial Director of Bulacan PPO, Malolos City Mayor Atty. Christian D. Natividad, and Police Lt. Col. Rommel E. Geneblazo, Chief of Police of the Malolos City Police Station.

The handheld metal detectors are expected to provide an additional layer of security by helping prevent prohibited items from entering school premises, while strengthening existing safety measures to protect students, teachers, and school personnel.

Building on the Bulacan PPO initiative, PRO3 Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez has directed all PPOs and CPOs throughout Central Luzon to develop similar school security programs tailored to the needs of their respective communities. The directive emphasizes close coordination with LGUs, school administrators, and other community partners to strengthen preventive security measures and promote safer learning environments.

Mendez underscored the importance of collaboration in ensuring the safety of educational institutions, stressing that proactive partnerships play a vital role in protecting learners and maintaining secure campuses.

The initiative forms part of the Philippine National Police’s continuing efforts to enhance public safety and reflects PRO3’s commitment to the PNP’s service principle of “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”

Through sustained cooperation with local governments and stakeholders, PRO3 aims to reinforce campus security, safeguard students and educators, and foster a culture of safety in schools across Central Luzon. (Jason de Asis)
