OEDC: April Power Rates Rise by Php 0.10/kWh Amid Global Energy Pressures

OLONGAPO CITY — The Olongapo Electricity Distribution Company (OEDC) announced a slight increase in electricity rates for the April billing period, with an adjustment of Php 0.10 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

This brings the total residential rate to Php 10.76/kWh, up from Php 10.66/kWh recorded in the March billing cycle. According to OEDC, the increase is primarily driven by higher costs in generation, transmission, and government charges.

The utility noted that ongoing tensions in the Middle East have contributed to volatility in global fuel prices, which in turn impacts power generation costs. Despite the upward adjustment, OEDC emphasized that its distribution charge remains unchanged at Php 1.1210/kWh, a rate that has been in effect since 2018.

“OEDC continues to closely monitor developments in the global energy market and remains committed to providing reliable and efficient service to its customers,” the company said. Consumers are advised to adopt energy-saving practices to help manage electricity expenses amid fluctuating power rates.
