BALANGA CITY, BATAAN — AboitizPower has turned over electric vehicles and charging infrastructure to the provincial government of Bataan to support the province’s shift to electric public transportation.
The energy company, through its private limited partnerships GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), formally turned over the package during a ceremony at Vista Mall Balanga on Sept. 30.
The donation consists of two Foton 8-meter electric buses, a Wuling Sunlight 14-seater passenger van, a VinFast Limo Green 7-seater multipurpose vehicle and an 80-kilowatt fast-charging facility at Vista Mall Balanga.
The vehicles will be deployed for Bataan’s Libreng Sakay program as part of the province’s Electric Mobility for Sustainability Program under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Project Transform.
AboitizPower Transition Business Group President and Chief Operating Officer Celso Caballero said the initiative demonstrates how government and private-sector partnerships can support community programs.
“The strongest partnerships are built not by a single project but by a shared commitment to creating opportunities for people,” Caballero said.
Bataan Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia accepted the donation on behalf of the provincial government and thanked AboitizPower for its support.
“Salamat po sa AboitizPower, sa inyong pagsuporta sa mga programa namin dito sa lalawigan ng Bataan. Hindi po namin magagawa ito kung hindi po dahil sa mga partners na katulad ninyo,” Garcia said.
Garcia said AboitizPower is among the province’s partners in implementing DENR Project Transform, which includes electric mobility initiatives.
“Kayo po ay kapirmahan namin sa Project Transform ng DENR, and there are many components of this project, kasama po ang Electric Mobility,” he said.
The charging facility is expected to support the operation of the donated electric vehicles and form part of the province’s initial electric mobility infrastructure.
For GMEC and GNPD, the initiative is also part of their environmental, social and governance commitments and community engagement efforts.
