CLARK, Pampanga — The new Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower at Clark International Airport (CRK) is set to strengthen air traffic management as passenger and aircraft traffic in the area continues to grow.

Standing 18 storeys, or about 54 meters tall, the facility is the country’s highest ATC tower. It is designed to enhance Clark’s air traffic control capabilities and support the airport’s long-term development as a major gateway for Central Luzon and the Philippines.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto visited the new tower on September 29, along with Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and CEO Joshua Bingcang, Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary IC Calaguas, Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) President and CEO Jojit Alcazar and Chief Operating Officer Ryan Pineda, Luzon International Premiere Development Corp. (LIPAD) President Noel Manankil, and Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda.

CIAC and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) officials briefed the delegation on the tower’s capabilities, including its communications, navigation and surveillance systems.

Since August, CAAP and CIAC engineers and specialists have been conducting shadowing and mirroring procedures as part of preparations for the tower’s operations. (CIAC Press Release)
