MARIVELES, Bataan– The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) continues to maintain essential services and Freeport operations as inclement weather affects Bataan, with personnel monitoring weather-related risks and responding to the needs of workers, residents and Freeport enterprises.
The Public Safety and Security Department (PSSD), through its Fire and Emergency Division and Law Enforcement Division, leads AFAB’s weather response by monitoring conditions across the Freeport and responding to weather-related incidents.
PSSD personnel are conducting inspections and clearing and flushing drainage systems in flood-prone areas, while monitoring rivers, creeks and other waterways for rising water levels. Teams are also responding to reports of fallen trees, road obstructions and vehicular accidents and providing traffic assistance in flooded areas, particularly along Luzon Avenue.
Emergency response personnel and communication equipment remain on standby, while weather advisories from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration are monitored around the clock.

The Freeport Facilities Department, through its Infrastructure and Maintenance Division and Environmental and Utilities Division, is also addressing concerns involving infrastructure and utilities.
Personnel are monitoring buildings, facilities and infrastructure projects in areas vulnerable to landslides and soil erosion, while clearing affected areas and access routes. The Environmental and Utilities Division is handling water and power concerns, monitoring dam levels and overseeing waste collection and the proper transport and disposal of residual and hazardous waste.
The Community Services Department continues to provide essential client services, including online processing of requests such as gate passes. It also monitors public utility vehicle operations and coordinates emergency assistance when necessary.
At the AFAB Annex Building, the FAB Enterprise Department’s Enterprise Assistance Division and Port Services Division remain operational, assisting Freeport enterprises and facilitating essential activities, including cargo inspection and the movement of goods.
AFAB personnel working on-site and remotely continue to perform their respective functions to help keep the Freeport safe, responsive and operational despite the continuing inclement weather.
