AURORA PDRRMC APPROVES KEY RESOLUTIONS, STRENGTHENS DISASTER PREPAREDNESS PROGRAMS

Baler, Aurora – The Aurora Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) successfully convened its Second Quarter Full Council Meeting on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Barangay Suklayin, Baler, where all major resolutions were approved under the leadership of Governor Isidro P. Galban.

The meeting, co-chaired by Provincial DRRM Officer Engr. Amado Elson A. Egargue, gathered representatives from various government agencies and partner sectors to deliberate on key disaster risk reduction and management policies and programs for the province.

Among the initial matters approved were the provisional agenda and the minutes of the previous council meeting, ensuring continuity and proper documentation of governance actions.

A climate outlook briefing for Aurora was presented by DOST-PAGASA Baler weather specialist Edraly E. Raynera, providing essential guidance for preparedness planning amid anticipated weather-related risks in the coming months.

A major highlight of the session was the approval of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund Investment Plan for 2027 amounting to Php124.32 million, in accordance with Aurora PDRRMC Resolution No. 4, Series of 2026.

The council also approved several critical resolutions, including the reprogramming of the Local DRRM Fund Capital Outlay and Special Trust Fund (Resolution No. 5, Series of 2026) amounting to Php3.05 million. This allocation will support financial assistance programs for affected sectors in relation to Executive Order No. 110, Series of 2026, declaring a State of National Energy Emergency.

Further approvals included Resolution No. 6, Series of 2026 for the Php1.46 million allocation for the installation of a water system at the Provincial Equipment and Pool Office and PDRRMO, and Resolution No. 7, Series of 2026 for the Php2 million repair and improvement of the Provincial DRRM Operations Center (Phase 2).

The council also discussed capacity-building programs, training activities for 2026 led by Engr. Cristina W. Dela Cruz, as well as preparedness measures for potential El Niño impacts. Updates on hantavirus monitoring were likewise presented by the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Myrna Nicer.

In addition, Samson C. Nangitoy of the Bugkalot-Ilongot Confederation, Inc. was formally included as the Indigenous Peoples sector representative to the PDRRMC, further strengthening inclusive disaster governance in the province.

Discussions also covered a proposed Executive Order reorganizing the Aurora PDRRMC to enhance coordination and policy implementation across all disaster risk reduction and management efforts. The council emphasized that all approved measures are aimed at strengthening Aurora’s preparedness, response capability, and resilience against various hazards and emergencies. (Jason de Asis)
