Aurora Strengthens DRRM Planning for FY 2027 to Boost Community Resilience

BALER, Aurora — Local government units across Aurora Province convened for the “Review of Municipal DRRM Plan, Annual Investment Program (AIP), and Local DRRM Fund Investment Plan (LDRRMFIP) for FY 2027” held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at AMCO Beach Resort and Restaurant in Baler.

The activity brought together representatives from the eight component municipalities, members of the provincial review team, and officials from the Office of Civil Defense Region III, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster risk reduction and management systems across the province.
Provincial DRRM Officer Engr. Amado Elson A. Egargue emphasized the importance of systematic planning, proper fund utilization, and strong coordination between local government units and national agencies to ensure effective disaster preparedness and response.

He noted that the review process is essential in identifying whether programs and projects align with the actual needs of communities, particularly in areas frequently affected by hazards such as typhoons, floods, and landslides. He also stressed that proper prioritization and efficient management of the Local DRRM Fund are critical in strengthening the resilience of local communities.

Officials from the Office of Civil Defense Region III, through PDPS Chief Richard C. Santos, were also acknowledged for their continued technical assistance and support in enhancing DRRM systems in the province.

During the presentations, each municipality reported its current DRRM status, implementation gaps, and proposed interventions aimed at improving preparedness and response capabilities.

The discussions also covered key issues and concerns, synthesis of recommendations, and next steps to ensure that the FY 2027 DRRM plans are more responsive, inclusive, and effectively implemented.

Egargue underscored that the process is not merely a technical requirement but a vital governance mechanism ensuring that every peso allocated for DRRM translates into concrete protection for lives, livelihoods, and properties.

Overall, the activity served as a significant step toward a more robust and integrated disaster risk reduction and management system in Aurora Province, reinforcing the goal of building safer, more prepared, and more resilient communities. (Jason de Asis)
