BATAAN — In a bid to fuel the aspirations of future local innovators, AboitizPower, through its private limited partnerships GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD), has distributed ₱2 million in financial grants to 200 engineering majors during a ceremony at The Bunker in Balanga City, Bataan.
The beneficiaries are currently enrolled at Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) under the provincial government’s flagship Iskolar ng Bataan initiative.
This initial ₱2 million allocation is part of a broader ₱10 million educational pledge established by AboitizPower last year. Through this ongoing alliance with the province, the company will release ₱2 million yearly for half a decade to help provide stable financial backing for the selected students.
Bataan Governor Joet Garcia and Vice Governor Cris Garcia accepted the ceremonial check from Andrea Madrid, AboitizPower GMEC-GNPD Vice President for Corporate Services. The event was also witnessed by Iskolar ng Bataan coordinator Ramon Cañas.

“Our partnership with Bataan goes beyond generating energy. It is about fueling the dreams of the community we serve,” Madrid said. “Through this partnership with the Iskolar ng Bataan program, we want to give these bright engineering students the peace of mind to focus on their studies and reach their full potential. We thank the Provincial Government for allowing us to be a part of their educational journey.”
Governor Garcia later took to social media to commend AboitizPower’s dedication to local youth development.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to AboitizPower for their steadfast commitment to our province, particularly in the academic sector,” Governor Garcia stated on his official Facebook page. “This contribution significantly advances our mission to give our youth access to high-quality, inclusive learning opportunities.” (PR)
