OLONGAPO CITY — Olongapo City is set to celebrate its 60th Cityhood Anniversary this June 2026 with a series of exciting events that highlight the city’s culture, achievements, and vibrant community spirit.

Organized by the City Government of Olongapo, the celebration will bring together residents, visitors, artists, community leaders, and local performers in a week of festivities designed to honor the city’s rich heritage and continued progress.

Among the major highlights of the celebration is the “Ganda ng Gapo” Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) Competition on June 8 at the Olongapo FMA Hall.

The competition will showcase the beauty, culture, history, and people of Olongapo through creative visual storytelling produced by participating groups and organizations.

Also on June 8, the city will recognize exemplary citizens during “The Best Olongapeños Award” at the SMX Convention Center. The awarding ceremony will honor outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions in fields such as sports, education, business, tourism, culture, environment, leadership, and public service.

The celebration continues on June 12 with a festive lineup of evening activities beginning with the Electric Light Parade from Rizal Triangle to Magsaysay Drive. Illuminated floats and colorful displays are expected to light up the streets as residents gather to witness the annual parade.

The festivities will also feature “Kalye Kasiyahan” and the Cityhood Concert along Magsaysay Drive, where guests can enjoy live performances, cultural presentations, food stalls, and entertainment from local and guest artists.

Mayor Rolen “Lenj” Paulino Jr. said the 60th Cityhood Anniversary is not only a celebration of Olongapo’s history and accomplishments but also a tribute to the resilience, creativity, and unity of the Olongapeño people. Residents and visitors are encouraged to participate in the various activities and experience the spirit of camaraderie and pride that continues to define Olongapo City after six decades of cityhood.
