CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has intensified its campaign against loose firearms, resulting in the recovery and accounting of 636 firearms across Central Luzon from February 24 to April 26, 2026.

According to consolidated police reports, 239 short firearms and one light weapon were confiscated during various law enforcement operations. Authorities also recorded a significant number of voluntary surrenders, with 299 short firearms and 13 light weapons turned over by civilians in support of the government’s crackdown.

In addition, 83 short firearms and one light weapon were deposited with authorities for safekeeping, contributing to the overall total.

The operations also led to the arrest of 221 individuals for violations of existing firearms laws, underscoring the region’s intensified efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons.

PRO3 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Jess B. Mendez commended both police personnel and the public for their cooperation and commitment to the campaign.

“This accomplishment reflects our sustained and focused efforts to rid our communities of loose firearms. Every firearm accounted for is a potential threat prevented,” Mendez said. “We will continue to intensify our operations and encourage the public to support our campaign toward a safer Central Luzon.”

Mendez emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Philippine National Police’s focused agenda, particularly in strengthening police operations, ensuring public safety, and enhancing community engagement.
