CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has accounted for 88,047 firearms with expired registration across Central Luzon, achieving a 97.44 percent accomplishment rate under its Accounting and Disposition of Firearms with Expired Registration (ADFER) campaign as of October 31, 2026.
Based on the regional monitoring list, PRO3 covered 90,217 firearms, leaving 2,173 yet to be accounted for, primarily due to difficulties in locating or verifying the registered owners at their recorded addresses.
Under the leadership of Police Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez, PRO3 regional director, police units have accounted for 82,439 of the 84,612 individually registered firearms. Meanwhile, all 5,605 firearms registered under juridical entities have been fully accounted for.
Mendez has directed police commanders to intensify efforts to trace registered owners whose addresses can no longer be located or verified. He also emphasized the need to update and reconcile firearms records to ensure accurate monitoring and accountability.
The ADFER campaign aims to identify and account for firearms with expired registration, verify their status, and facilitate compliance with applicable registration and disposition requirements.
The initiative supports the Philippine National Police’s efforts to strengthen firearms monitoring and accountability as part of its broader crime prevention measures.
Mendez likewise reminded unit commanders to closely supervise the remaining accounting activities and ensure that all verification procedures and required documentation are completed in accordance with existing regulations. (Jason de Asis)
