SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — Ranny Doctolero Magno, chief of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Fire Department, died Sept. 28 at age 61, according to his family.

Magno, a native of Castillejos, Zambales, led the SBMA Fire Department and Rescue Team in fire suppression, rescue operations and other emergency-response activities.

In the months before his death, Magno continued to participate in training sessions and simulation exercises with the SBMA Fire and Rescue Team as part of efforts to maintain the unit’s emergency preparedness.

He also led his personnel in disaster-response operations during flooding in Zambales communities caused by the southwest monsoon, or habagat, in incidents previously covered by Ang Pahayagan.

His son, Ralph Magno, announced his death in a Facebook post, writing, “Rest well Dad. Your labor is finished. Your earthly work is done.”

Colleagues and members of the fire and rescue community expressed condolences following Magno’s death.
