CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police authorities arrested a suspect in a shooting incident in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, less than 24 hours after a 27-year-old man was shot and killed outside his residence, police said Friday.

The suspect was arrested around 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Partas Bus Terminal in Pasay City through a joint hot pursuit operation led by the Regional Special Operations Group–Regional Intelligence Division 3 (RSOG-RID3), with the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 3, Pampanga Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit, and Mabalacat City Police Station.

The operation stemmed from a shooting incident around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, along Roxas Street in Barangay Dau, Mabalacat City.

Initial investigation showed that the victim was standing outside the gate of his residence when he was allegedly shot by the suspect, who then fled the area aboard a motorcycle.

The victim was brought to a nearby hospital but died while undergoing treatment.

Police immediately conducted follow-up operations, intelligence gathering, and CCTV backtracking, leading to the identification and eventual arrest of the suspect in Pasay City.

Police Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez, PRO3 regional director, commended the operating units for their swift response and coordination.

He said the police would continue to pursue suspects through intelligence-driven operations and inter-unit coordination to ensure that those responsible for criminal offenses are brought before the law.

The suspect remains under police custody and is facing appropriate criminal charges. (Jason de Asis)
