MANILA — An ecumenical coalition of religious leaders and faith-based organizations will hold a prayer walk dubbed “Pilgrimage of Conscience: A Jericho Walk for Truth and Justice” around the Senate of the Philippines on Saturday, July 4.
The activity, organized by Kingdom Keepers in partnership with Clergy for Good Governance, will begin with an assembly at 6:30 a.m., followed by a prayerful procession around the Senate at 7 a.m.
According to the organizers, the event draws inspiration from the biblical story of Jericho and aims to encourage participants to pray for truth, justice, and peace through “conscience, constitutional duty, and nonviolence.”
The organizers said the pilgrimage seeks to address what they described as the “walls of fear, indifference, and despair” through prayer and hope rather than force.
During the 30- to 45-minute walk, participants will observe moments of Scripture reading, silence, and reflection while praying for what organizers called the “Seven Graces for the Nation,” These include truth, justice and the rule of law, courage, integrity, accountability, healing, and hope.
The event is open to families, youth, senior citizens, churches, and civic organizations regardless of religious tradition or political affiliation.
Participants are advised to bring water, wear comfortable shoes and hats, while brown attire is encouraged but not required.
Kingdom Keepers described itself as an ecumenical coalition composed of Catholic, Evangelical, and mainline Protestant churches and individuals, with Clergy for Good Governance serving as one of the organizing groups. (Ang Pahayagan Reportorial Team)
