The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) conducted a public consultation on two proposed maritime policies that will enhance FAB Ports operations and overall service delivery within the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).

The consultation brought together representatives from the maritime sector, port operators, shipping companies, enterprise locators, and government agencies in Bataan to discuss the proposed Pilotage System and the policy for the utilization of the new FAB Ferry Terminal (FFT).

AFAB’s proposed Pilotage System seeks to improve navigational safety and enhance vessel movement within FAB’s jurisdiction. It outlines the regulation of harbor pilotage services to ensure orderly and efficient passage of vessels across FAB ports, terminals, and navigable waters, including the FAB Expansion Areas (FEA).

AFAB also presented its proposed policy on the utilization of the FAB Ferry Terminal, which establishes guidelines for managing vessel operations and ensuring efficient terminal operations. The framework intends to become a reliable and secure passenger transport hub within the FAB.

During the consultation, stakeholders shared their inputs to be considered in refining the policies and ensuring that the final regulations address the needs of the maritime community.
