CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Top 1 Most Wanted Person of Police Station 5 of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) was killed during an armed encounter with law enforcement operatives while authorities were serving warrants of arrest in Barangay Salcedo, San Manuel, Tarlac on May 13, 2026.
The suspect, a resident of Angeles City, Pampanga, was facing charges for homicide and slight physical injury based on warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court in Angeles City. Police investigation also identified the suspect as the primary suspect in the shooting incident involving an intelligence operative of ACPO.
The operation was jointly conducted by personnel of Police Station 5 and the City Intelligence Unit of ACPO as part of the intensified campaign against wanted persons and violent offenders. According to police reports, the suspect allegedly sensed the presence of the operating troops and attempted to escape by jumping beneath a bridge. During the pursuit, the suspect reportedly opened fire at the operatives, prompting law enforcers to return fire.
The suspect sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was later declared dead by the attending physician.
Police Brigadier General Jess B. Mendez, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), commended the operating units for their professionalism and dedication in carrying out the operation.
“Our police personnel will continue to conduct lawful operations to ensure that individuals facing criminal charges are brought before the court. While we always prioritize peaceful and orderly police actions, our operatives are also prepared to respond when their safety and the lives of others are threatened,” Police Brig. General Mendez said.
He added that PRO3 remains committed to strengthening intelligence-driven operations to protect communities and maintain peace and order across Central Luzon. (Jason de Asis)
