ANGELES CITY — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized more than ₱1 million worth of unregistered Korean luncheon meat products from a warehouse in Barangay Cutcut here on Oct. 22.
The CIDG Angeles City Field Unit, in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Region 3, conducted the operation at around 3 p.m., confiscating assorted brands of luncheon meat valued at ₱1,040,040.
Authorities said the products were not registered with the FDA and did not comply with applicable food quality and safety standards.
A 17-year-old minor was caught selling and trading the products during the operation, according to the CIDG. The minor, classified as a child in conflict with the law, was documented and turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office for appropriate action.
The CIDG also filed a criminal complaint against the warehouse owner, who remains at large.

The operation was conducted over an alleged violation of Republic Act 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, which prohibits the manufacture, importation, sale, distribution and transfer of regulated health and food products without the required FDA registration and authorization.
The CIDG reminded the public to check the registration status of food products before purchasing or consuming them, saying unregistered products have not undergone the required regulatory evaluation to verify their quality and safety.
Consumers may verify product registration through the FDA Verification Portal.
