CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police arrested two more Nigerian nationals tagged as high-value individuals (HVIs) in a buy-bust operation in Angeles City on October 17, seizing suspected illegal drugs worth PHP104,940, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) reported.

The operation was conducted at around 5:40 p.m. in Barangay Balibago by the Angeles City Police Drug Enforcement Unit, with support from several police intelligence and anti-drug units, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 3.

Authorities recovered approximately 12 grams of suspected dried marijuana, one gram of suspected high-grade marijuana or Kush, and 60 suspected ecstasy tablets.

The suspects, both residents of Mabalacat City, Pampanga, were brought to the City Police Drug Enforcement Unit office for investigation. Charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing.

The arrests came a day after police apprehended another Nigerian national, also identified as a high-value individual, in Barangay Balibago. Authorities seized 3,510 suspected ecstasy tablets worth approximately PHP5.967 million during that operation.

PRO3 is investigating whether the arrested individuals are connected through their alleged sources or distribution networks, although any possible links remain subject to further investigation.

PRO3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez said authorities would pursue leads generated by the successive arrests to identify other personalities and possible drug distribution networks.

The operations form part of PRO3’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs through intelligence-driven police operations and coordination with PDEA and other law enforcement agencies across Central Luzon. (Jason de Asis)
