BOTOLAN, Zambales — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), local responders and community members recovered the remains of a father and his daughter who were swept away by a strong current in Botolan, Zambales.

The two were reported missing after they were traveling home aboard a carabao-drawn cart on Sept. 1 when a fast-flowing current from an upland area overturned the cart and carried them downstream.

The father was found along the Botolan shoreline on Sept. 2, while his daughter was recovered in the same area on Sept. 3.

Their remains were positively identified by family members and turned over for appropriate arrangements.

The PCG expressed condolences to the bereaved family and thanked local responders and residents who assisted in the search and recovery operations.
