BALANGA CITY, Bataan — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) joined government agencies and local officials in a provincial planning and assessment for the localized implementation of Oplan Kontra Baha on Sept. 3-4 at the Bunker here.

Representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Provincial Government of Bataan, local government units and other concerned agencies discussed flooding concerns, proposed dredging activities and possible interventions in priority areas across the province.

The meeting also sought to align the plans of participating agencies and identify areas requiring coordinated action.

Oplan Kontra Baha is a multi-agency flood mitigation program that includes the clearing and desilting of waterways, improvement of drainage systems and development of longer-term measures based on local conditions.

AFAB provided information and raised concerns affecting the Freeport and surrounding areas as part of the assessment and planning process.

The agency said its participation supports coordinated measures to protect communities, access routes, public infrastructure and economic activities from flooding. (AFAB Press Release)
