SUBIC BAY FREEPORT— The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) have signed an agreement to position the Port of Subic Bay as the preferred maritime gateway for the Pax Silica initiative, supporting its logistics, cargo handling, import and export operations, data integration and other supply chain requirements.

The agreement establishes a framework for the two agencies to jointly assess and promote the Port of Subic Bay as the primary entry and exit point for silica, advanced technology inputs and other high-value products intended to support the country’s artificial intelligence and semiconductor industries.

Under the partnership, BCDA and SBMA will conduct joint studies, share data and undertake technical assessments aimed at improving logistics connectivity, enhancing supply chain efficiency and identifying opportunities for investment and regional economic growth.

BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua M. Bingcang and SBMA Chairperson Eduardo Jose L. Aliño signed the agreement.

“The Port of Subic Bay offers a strategic advantage for the Pax Silica initiative by enabling the efficient movement of raw materials into the country and the timely delivery of finished products to customers,” Bingcang said.

The partnership also supports the government’s infrastructure and investment promotion efforts and seeks to strengthen the Luzon Economic Corridor through greater integration of ports, industrial hubs and emerging technology sectors.

Also present during the signing ceremony were SBMA Senior Deputy Administrator for Operations Ronnie Yambao and BCDA Senior Vice President for Legal Services Diana Joyce N. Basco-Galera.
