SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – A total of 222 volunteers came together for the monthly Subic Bay Freeport Friday Clean-Up Drive, reaffirming that environmental protection is a shared responsibility among stakeholders and the community.
The activity covered the Waterfront Road, the Mini Golf Course, and the Boardwalk Area, with participants actively collecting and segregating waste to restore the cleanliness and appeal of these key public spaces.

Anchored on the theme “Tapat Ko, Linis Ko, Pagandahin Ko,” the initiative encouraged individuals and organizations to take ownership of their surroundings and contribute to a cleaner, more beautiful Freeport.

The clean-up drive was spearheaded by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Operations Group, which emphasized the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sustained environmental action. Strong support was provided by Port Facility Partners including Subic Bay International Terminals Corp., Pure Petroleum Corporation, Mega Subic Terminal, Inc., Harbor Centre Port Terminal, Inc., and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary 111, alongside SBMA employees.
In a related activity, the SBMA Ecology Center conducted its “Friday Clean-up Club” at Grande Island, further supporting efforts to preserve the ecological integrity of coastal areas.

The day also included a capacity-building program for staff and On-the-Job Trainees (OJTs), featuring a technical discussion on coastal and marine ecosystem management and a forest trekking activity to enhance first-hand knowledge of local flora and fauna.

Organizers expressed their appreciation to all volunteers and partners, emphasizing that lasting environmental change begins with consistent action and shared accountability.
Their continued collaboration highlights a unified commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility within the Freeport. Beyond waste collection, the initiative strengthened partnerships and reinforced the shared vision of maintaining the Subic Bay Freeport Zone as a clean, safe, and globally competitive destination.
