AURORA — Thirty-six participants have completed the 5-day Contingency Planning Training of Trainers held from August 11 to 15, 2025, at the Emergency Operations Center, PDRRMO New Building, Barangay Suklayin, Baler, Aurora—equipping them with advanced skills to boost disaster preparedness and resilience in their communities.
Organized in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense – Region III (OCD-R3) under Regional Director Amador Corpuz, the training aimed to develop future trainers capable of cascading contingency planning concepts, strategies, and best practices to local governments, agencies, and community organizations.
The intensive program combined lectures, workshops, and scenario-based exercises tackling hazards such as earthquakes, storm surges, flooding, and fires. It focused on risk assessment, resource management, response coordination, and crafting contingency plans for worst-case scenarios.
All 36 participants passed the final evaluation and post-examination, affirming their readiness to serve as facilitators and advocates for disaster preparedness.
In his closing message, Aurora Provincial DRRM Officer Engineer Elson Amado A. Egargue commended their dedication and active engagement.
“This journey was not just about learning plans and strategies—it was about building stronger teamwork and preparing ourselves to better protect our communities,” he said. “Your commitment will make a difference when challenges come. As trainers, you will inspire and guide others toward safety and readiness.”
Egargue also thanked the OCD-R3 team, resource persons, and facilitators for their expertise and support, underscoring the value of sustained passion in promoting preparedness at all levels. Participants were urged to share their knowledge and empower more people to build safer, more resilient communities. (Jason de Asis)
