The SBMA Fire Department contingent led by Fire Chief Ranny Magno joins the 15 kilometer “Rescue M.A.R.C.H.” (Mass Assembly for Rescue and Care for Humanity) Challenge, held Saturday dawn, July 19, 2025 in Pasig CIty.
The activity, which kicks off at the MMDA in Pasig City and ends at the University Science Park in Quezon city, was participated by different national agencies, local government units, private and non- government response groups. It is a simulation exercise and movement focused on disaster preparedness and response.

“This involves rescuers marching on foot from a staging area to “ground zero” while carrying equipment, supplies, and personal survival kits, simulating conditions during a major disaster. The exercise will tests the endurance, coordination, and communication capabilities of rescue teams,” said Magno.
The Rescue M.A.R.C.H. Challenge was also designed to replicate the realities of responding to a major disaster, preparing responders for the challenges of delivering aid when infrastructures are compromised.

Participating rescue teams also performs the ‘Mogadishu walk’ in their final 2 kilometer journey to the designated ground zero.
