NUEVA ECIJA–The Philippine Army wrapped up the second iteration of its Combined Arms Training Exercise (CATEX) “Katihan” which marks a seamless transition to the preparation phase for its participation in the upcoming combined Salaknib Exercise with the U.S. Army Pacific and the joint Balikatan Exercise between the AFP and the U.S. Armed Forces.
The Army Artillery Regiment’s ATMOS2000 self-propelled (155mm) and towed howitzers, the Armor Division’s Sabrah light tanks as well as newly procured mortars were utilized in the exercises.
Meanwhile, infantry units, armor units equipped with fire support vehicles (FSVs), combat engineers, and other specialized enablers conducted various training exercises at the Combat Readiness Training Area in Fort, Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija.

The Army’s aeromedical team also conducted a medical evacuation exercise at the CRTA, highlighting the Aviation Regiment’s critical care capability for combat-wounded troops on the frontlines.
