French flotilla makes its first ever visit in Subic Bay

The French Carrier Strike Group (CGS), led by the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, is seen docked at the Riviera Pier of the Ship Repair Facility complex in Subic Bay Freeport after arriving here on Friday, February 21 for a three-day goodwill visit. The port call is said to be the first-ever stop in the Philippines for the CGS, which includes two destroyers, and an auxiliary oil replenishment ship, the Jacques Chevallier (left of photo).

A French Embassy statement said the visit is part of CGS deployment in the Indo-Pacific region under Mission Clemenceau 25, which underscores France and Philippine commitment to maritime security in the region. (Ang Pahayagan photo / JUN DUMAGUING)
