Salt industry players gathered for the 2nd Salt Congress

PANGASINAN — The Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Pangasinan State University (PSU) organized the 2nd Salt Congress in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

The two-day congress aims to revive the Philippine salt industry and boost local production that will center on salt management and development through research and innovations.

Experts and resource persons from various fields will lead plenary discussions covering topics from the DA-BFAR’s OPLAN ASIN program, the Philippine Salt Industry Development Act, SALT and OneASIN Programs of DOST, and research presentations aiming to develop and advance salt production in the country.

DA-BFAR officials, led by BFAR 1 Regional Director Segundina Gaerlan and Dr. Hannibal Chavez, head of BFAR Salt Program Management, joined policy makers, local government representatives, members of the academe, salt manufacturers and salt farmers from all over the country to participate.
