Nolcom performs first-ever cargo sling operation to aid typhoon victims

The Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines executed it’s first-ever cargo sling operation as part of ongoing relief efforts for typhoon-affected communities in Batanes.

Utilizing Black Hawk helicopters from the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing, the airlift operation used the sling-load techniques to transport critical relief supplies from BRP Davao del Sur (LD-602), anchored off Basco, to the Basco Provincial Capitol Field.

Lieutenant General Fernyl Galera Buca said the cargo sling operation highlights NOLCOM’s improved operational capabilities.

“The operation reflects the command’s increased proficiency in disaster response. We will continue to conduct cargo sling operations until all the essential goods are delivered to those in need,” the NOLCOM Commander said.

The mission involves transporting approximately 300 tons of relief goods, with several sling sorties scheduled over the next two days to ensure timely delivery.

“NOLCOM’s success in this operation demonstrates its growing capabilities and expertise in humanitarian operations, ensuring swift aid delivery to Northern Luzon’s most vulnerable communities,” Buca added.
