FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – Joint elements of the 70th Infantry (Matatag at Matapat) Battalion, Philippine Army, and personnel from Bulacan Provincial Police Office have unearthed an arms cache apparently belonging to the remnants of the GF Narciso of the Communist Terrorist Group at Sitio Malamig, Brgy. Kabayunan, Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan on October 16, 2024.
According to Major General Andrew D. Costelo, Commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, the operation was conducted following the information given by Alona Estimada, alias Onang, and Merlito Espinar, alias Bordado, both former members of the Milisyang Bayan under GF Narciso.
Recovered items were two M16A1 rifles, one COLT M653 eight magazines for M16; and 101 cartridges of 5.56mm Ball.
MGen Costelo commended the joint intelligence operations of the Army and PNP that led to the recovery of the arms cache. He also thanked Estimada ang Espinar for their full cooperation with the government in its anti-insurgency campaign.
“We are very thankful for the cooperation of our FRs as they have been instrumental in the progress of our campaign especially in keeping and maintaining the peace and security in our Area of Operations. Kaya naman hindi kami mapapagod na hikayatin ang mga natitirang miyembro ng GF Narciso na sumuko na. Maraming naghihintay na oportunidad sa inyo na magpapabago ng buhay ninyo,” MGen. Costelo said.
Meanwhile, the recovered arms cache was brought to 70IB headquarters at Brgy. Pulong, Sampaloc, DRT, Bulacan for proper disposition and safekeeping. (PR)
