BALER, Aurora-The Lapian ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) team officials and aspirants has formally filed their certificate of candidacy (COC) on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

The LDP team arrived at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Provincial Office in this capital town (Baler) of Aurora were Aurora Representative Rommel Rico T. Angara, Governor Reynante A. Tolentino, aspirant for Vice Governor Sid Galban-a former board member.

Aspirants for Provincial Board Members in the 1st district of the LDP team were incumbent Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Jake Galban, Baler Vice Mayor Bobong Ong, Lawyer Patrick Angara and Dra. Norma Palmero while in the 2nd district: SP incumbents Lito Pascua, Menard Amansec, former board member Tho Miran and Chief Nurse Yam Tolentino-son of Gov. Tolentino.

Gov. Tolentino said, the LDP team are seeking for the said positions in the 2025 midterm polls.

Angara is unopposed in the congressional bet while Tolentino becomes Governor based on the rules of succession under republic Act number 7160 of the Local Government Code of 1991.

He was a senior board member of the SP before he acted as vice governor, governor and fulltime governor of the province as ordered by the office of the ombudsman, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Regional Trial Court Sheriff.

“Ang lahat ng ito ay dumaan sa masusi at tamang proseso ng batas, ito po ay mapayapa at maayos na ipinatupad ng “Department of the Interior and Local Governments (DILG)” at “RTC Court Sheriff”,” Tolentino said.

At the Monday flag raising ceremony in the capitol, Tolentino explained about the decision of the court of appeals about the reinstatement of former Governor Lawyer Christian Noveras.

Tolentino reacted with the recently posted on social media of the previous governor Noveras saying the word “Kapit Tuko” and advising Tolentino to step down.

“I encouraged everyone to unite, cooperate and integrate for the welfare and development of the province. Ako po ay buong-puso at kababang-loob na magsasalin ng pamamahala sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan at liderato sa Lalawigan ng Aurora. Ako po ay nananawagan at humihimok sa ating mga kalalawigan na maging mahinahon at iwasan ang mga pahayag na magdudulot ng kaguluhan at pagkakabaha-bahagi. Iisa lang po ang ating layunin, ang ‘Makapagserbisyo ng Bukas Palad’ sa ating mga kalalawigan,” he said.
