AURORA-A People’s Organization (PO) of former rebels (FRs) and supporters has received two (2) farm tractors as part of the initiatives of the Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion in collaboration with the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech).
Lt. Col. Aries A. Quinto, acting commanding officer of 91st IB said the tractors were turned over to Antipolo Farmers Association (AFA) at Sitio Batangas, Barangay Antipolo, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija.
In an interview, Quinto said that the prize of the two (2) hand tractors machinery with implement accessories were amounted to Php172,188 for each machinery for a total of Php354,376.
He added that combine elements of Alpha and Delta Company of 91st IB led by Technical Sergeant Shane S. Gregorio together with Engr. Marco Polo A. Yape Science Research Specialist-Philmech, Engr. Dianne Coloma Technical Property Inspector-Philmech, Engr. Anthony Louie Espe Agricultural Biosystem Engineer of the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) and Victoriano Elegado, Jr. MAO Agricultural Teachnologist facilitated the awarding of the farm machinery to AFA President Enrique Ferrer.
“We are doing our best efforts to help AFA to rebuild their lives and will continually giving livelihood programs to alleviate FRs financial burden and empower them to optimize their farming operations,” Quinto said.
He added that this initiative, underscore the 91st IB’s unwavering commitment to modernizing farming practices and strengthening the agriculture sector of FRs.
“By giving them the needed equipment and support services, it will enhance their production levels and improve their livelihoods in fostering sustainable agricultural development in their land,” Quinto said.
AFA President Ferrer expressed his sincerest thanks to 91st IB, PhilMech, department of agriculture and other concerned agencies for the farm tractors that they received.
