Nakatakdang magsagawa ng malalimang imbestigasyon ang Mababang Kapulungan kaugnay sa kontrobersyal na ‘gentlemen’s agreement’sa umano sa pagitan ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at Chinese president Xi JinPing kaugnay ng isyu sa pinagtatalunang teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Ito ay makaraang ihain ni Assistant Majority Leader at Zambales Rep. Jay Khonghun ang House Resolution 1684 ‘in aid of legislation’na nananais na paimbestigahan ang naturang kasunduan.

“The probe is necessary to get to the bottom of the rather confusing versions on the issue. We welcome this probe to get to the bottom of the issue. We want to sift the chaff from the grain, so to speak. Or in this case – the lies or propaganda peddled by many and the real score (or truth) behind it,”saad ni Khonghun.

“The investigation will give us a clearer picture, or the real big picture, of what really transpired because we only read the exchanges in the media. So, the congressional probe will give us a chance to hear it directly from the resource persons,” pahayag pa ng kongresista.

Dahilan din aniya sa nasabing kasunduan kung kaya’t halos nawalan na nang karapatan ang Pilipinas sa kanyang teritoryo at Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) sa West Philippine Sea gayundin ang malimitahan ang pagpapadala ng ayuda sa mga sundalong nakadestino sa BRP Sierra Madre sa Ayungin Shoal.
