CAVITE CITY – The Naval Air Wing (NAW) celebrated seventy-six years of invaluable service on October 18, 2023, with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. General Romeo Brawner, as the guest of honor.
The ceremony started with the honorary flight of Brawner as an Honorary Member of the Naval Aviation Family, flying the Philippine Navy’s AW109E helicopter. After which, a dunking ceremony and awarding of the Honorary Naval Aviator Patch was conducted, headed by RAdm Ceasar Bernard Valencia, the Vice Commander, Philippine Navy and Commo Juario Marayag, the Commander, Naval Air Wing.

This was followed by a battalion-sized arrival honor rendered to General Brawner prior to the program proper.
NAW’s Anniversary Program highlighted the awarding ceremony for outstanding NAW personnel. Likewise, a series of pre-anniversary activities were conducted by the Wing such as Simultaneous Mangrove and Tree-planting (with different Naval Air Operating Squadrons nationwide), Coastal Clean-up, Fun Biking, Thanksgiving Mass, Movie Screening For a Cause and Golf Tournament For a Cause. For the Cause-oriented activities, the identified beneficiary was the Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc. in Imus, Cavite.
The Naval Air Wing, formerly known as Naval Air Group (NAG) started as a Naval Air Section and was founded on October 7, 1947. Throughout the years, NAW has continuously supported the Philippine Navy in the accomplishment of its mission, and subsequently the Armed Forces of the Philippines in its mandate to protect the people and secure the sovereignty of our maritime nation.
