15 Peoples Organizations undergo Skills training on Tilapia breeding Production

BALER, Aurora-15 Peoples Organizations (POs) undergo livelihood skills training on Tilapia Production and get 6,000 fingerlings from the office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPAg), on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Lt. Col. Julito B. Recto, Jr., commander of 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion, Philippine Army said that the move is part of the reintegration into mainstream society of the former rebels (FRs) and mass supporters.

He added that the training is conducted in collaboration of the 91st IB to the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg)-Aurora. The OPAg explained the methods of tilapia fingerling production including the hatchery, breeding among others.

Recto said that through the training, the FRs and its mass supporters will become productive members of the community through the new skills and additional knowledge they acquire.

“The intervention given by the government is for them, for their families and the community itself where they are belongs. Later on, we will give the POs another training on records keeping, record and accounting where the personnel of Bureau of Internal Revenue will facilitate,” Recto said.

He explained that by investing in this capacity-building activity, the POs will have the opportunity to realize their potential for positive change and for reformation.

“Thorough hard work and new knowledge, our POs will bear success in the future. Livelihood programs will continue including more trainings to master the breeding of Tilapia to sustain the project,” he said.

On the other hand, OPAg resource speaker Gina Enaje expressed her gratitude to 91st IB for the invitation in capacitating the 60 officers of the 15 POs for the training.

“Our office is always open to give technical concerns including trainings on fish health management for the success of the project. We are ready to provide additional source of income for the tilapia fish farmer associations,” she said.

Ka Gary, one of the FR and member of the Association said that they are very thankful for the training and the tilapia fingerlings they received because it will greatly help them, as tilapia growers, to produce more and to sustain the project.

“We can now apply, what we learned in the recently concluded training to grow the tilapia. Thank you 91st IB and OPAg for your usual civic mindedness and the livelihood that the government continually provided with us,” he said. (Jason de Asis)
