ZAMBALES– The five-day bilateral maritime maneuver between Philippine Navy and Royal Australian Navy concluded on Saturday, July 23, in a ceremony at PN’s Naval Operating Base in Subic, Zambales.
During the conclusion of Exercise Lumbas 2023, the BRP Conrado Yap (PS39) and HMAS Anzac (FFH150) arrived at the NOB after a series of trainings held off Northern Luzon.
These two vessels trained in anti-submarine warfare, utilizing a realistic dynamic submarine track to enhance fleet operators’ Expendable Mobile Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Target tracking and localization skills.
They also performed replenishment-at-sea approaches to support afloat vessels. Cross-deck landings were conducted by both navies, allowing their aircraft to land on each other’s ships for refueling or resource sharing.
Moreover, maritime interdiction operations exercises were conducted by the two navies, simulating engagements with an enemy vessel where combatants were inserted to attack and seize control.
Additionally, surface warfare exercises, along with Night Steaming in Company and photo exercises, were conducted by both navies to enhance proficiency in core mariner skills, uphold professional standards, ensure safety, and improve communication. (PIA)
