Ang Pahayagan

Pinaghahandaan na ang homecoming ceremony para sa 82-man Philippine Inter Agency Humanitarian Contingent (PIAHC) matapos na ihayag na matatatapos na sa Biyernes, Pebrero 24 ang kanilang misyon na search, rescue, at retrieval operations sa bansang Turkiye, ayon sa Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

“I would like to thank the men and women of the Department of Health, Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, Metro Manila Development Authority, and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority for answering the call for help of Turkiye by deploying personnel despite the risks and harsh weather conditions that they may encounter,” pahayag ni OCD Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno.

Nabatid na ang Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team ng PIAHC sa ngayon ay inilagay muna sa standby dahilan sa umano’y “decrease in chance of finding signs of life and rescuing survivors,” subalit nakahanda naman ang mga ito sakaling humingi pa ng tulong ang mga lokal na awtoridad ng Adiyaman.

Sa kabilang banda ay nagbigay pa rin ang PIAHC team ng orientasyon tungkol sa search and rescue operation sa mga local Turkish volunteers doon. Ito ay makaraang mapansin na gumagamit ng backhoe ang local rescuers na taliwas sa safety procedures sa paghahanap ng biktima sa mga guho ng nagdaang lindol.

“After observing that locals use backhoes indiscriminately without due regard for safety procedures in locating victims, the PIAHC gave quick orientations on internationally accepted principles of search and rescue,” saad sa pahayag ng OCD. Ang PIAHC team ay kinabibilangan ng 30 personnel mula sa Department of Health, 33 mula sa Armed Forces of the Philippines, (21 mula rito ay galing sa Army’s 525th Engineer Combat Battalion at 12 mula sa 505th Search and Rescue Group), siyam mula sa Metro Manila Development Authority, walo mula sa Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, at dalawa mula sa Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
