A unit of the Philippine Army’s reserve force conducted an outreach program to assist transportation workers affected by the continuing rise in fuel prices.
The 306th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (RRIBN) under the Community Defense Center of the 3rd Regional Community Defense Group led the initiative dubbed “Tulong at Pasasalamat: Bigas para sa Bayani ng Lansangan,” aimed at supporting public utility drivers considered as modern-day road heroes.
The activity was carried out under the guidance of Lieutenant Colonel Wilma D. Billman (SC) PA and spearheaded by First Lieutenant Jovert Miranda )RES) PA, whose leadership ensured the smooth planning and implementation of the program with the support of unit personnel.
Members of the battalion actively participated in the preparation, coordination, and distribution of assistance, working alongside various partners from both within and outside the organization.

Selected beneficiaries, composed of jeepney and tricycle drivers, received essential food items including rice, eggs, instant noodles, and bottled water to help ease the impact of rising fuel costs on their daily livelihood.
Organizers said the outreach was conducted in an orderly manner, ensuring proper assistance to recipients while underscoring the unit’s continuing commitment to community service and support for the transport sector amid ongoing economic challenges. (Ang Pahayagan story / JUN DUMAGUING)
