ZAMBALES — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully conducted a towing operation for a distressed fishing banca, FB Gavin, in the waters off Los Frailes Island, Subic, Zambales on March 26, 2026.
At approximately 10:59 a.m., BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) received a report from the Coast Guard District National Capital Region–Central Luzon regarding the vessel in distress. Acting swiftly, the PCG vessel proceeded to the reported location and safely towed FB Gavin back to Subic.
The fishing banca was carrying six crew members, all of whom were found to be in good physical condition.
At around 6:20 a.m. on March 27, 2026, the distressed vessel was formally turned over to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the Coast Guard Sub-Station Zambales for further assistance.
