BATAAN —The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan welcomed representatives from Port of Antwerp-Bruges International for a courtesy visit and exploratory discussions on potential cooperation in port development and management.
The visit coincided with the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belgium and the Philippines, highlighting the strengthening ties and shared commitment to fostering economic collaboration.
During the visit, the PoABI delegation met with AFAB officials and technical representatives to identify possible areas of partnership, particularly in enhancing port infrastructure, operations, and digital innovation. The delegation also toured key port facilities in Bataan to gain insights into ongoing developments and emerging opportunities within the province.

The PoABI delegation was composed of Kamiel Schilders and Tom De Smedt. They were joined by representatives from the Embassy of Belgium in Manila, including Amb. Vladislava Iordanova, Mia Abela, Naomi Serrano, and Lisa Nordvik. Also present was Leslie Suntay.
Representatives from Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB)-registered enterprises also participated in the courtesy call, including Mariveles Harbor Corporation and Bataan Baseco Joint Venture, along with Herma Shipyard.
The engagement provided a platform for both parties to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and explore collaborative initiatives aimed at supporting the continued development of port facilities within the Freeport Area of Bataan. (PR)
