PRO3 Solves Bulacan Cop Killing

PAMPANGA — Police authorities arrested two suspects linked to the fatal shooting of a police officer in Guiguinto, Bulacan following coordinated hot pursuit operations conducted by joint police units on March 10.

According to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), the suspects were apprehended in separate follow-up operations in Bulakan, Bulacan and Obando, Bulacan, less than 48 hours after the shooting incident that occurred on March 8.

The attack took place at a basketball court inside a subdivision in Barangay Panginay, Guiguinto, which resulted in the death of a police officer assigned to the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office. A female civilian was also injured during the incident.

Initial investigation revealed that the alleged gunman is a dismissed police officer who was previously assigned in Obando, Bulacan. The second suspect allegedly served as the driver and accomplice during the commission of the crime.

Authorities said the arrests were the result of coordinated follow-up operations involving several police units, including the Guiguinto Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit Bulacan, PIDMU, Bulakan MPS, Obando MPS, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, PECU Bulacan, Regional Special Operations Group 3, and Regional Intelligence Unit 3.

During the operations, police also recovered several pieces of evidence from the suspects, including multiple firearms, ammunition, magazines, a grenade, motorcycles believed to have been used in the crime, mobile phones, identification cards, and clothing allegedly worn during the shooting.

PRO3 Regional Director Jess B. Mendez commended the operating units for their swift response and coordinated efforts that led to the immediate arrest of the suspects.

“The swift arrest of the suspects in less than 48 hours reflects the strong coordination and determination of our operating units to ensure that those responsible for this crime are immediately brought to justice,” Mendez said.

He added that the accomplishment aligns with the Philippine National Police’s operational priorities aimed at strengthening law enforcement operations and ensuring public safety across the region.

The suspects are currently under the custody of the Guiguinto Municipal Police Station, while authorities are preparing charges of murder and frustrated homicide to be filed before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Malolos City, Bulacan. (Jason de Asis)
