DTI-Zambales Intensifies Price and Supply Monitoring in Olongapo City

OLONGAPO CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)- Zambales, through its Consumer Protection Division, intensified its monitoring of prices and supply of basic necessities and prime commodities in Olongapo City to ensure compliance with government regulations and protect consumers.

The monitoring activity aimed to ensure that the prices of essential goods remain within the government’s Suggested Retail Prices (SRPs) and that these prices are properly displayed for the guidance of consumers.

During the inspection, the DTI team visited several grocery stores and supermarkets to check prevailing prices and assess compliance with existing price regulations. Establishments were also inspected for the presence of accurate and visible price tags on displayed products to promote transparency in pricing, prevent overpricing and misleading practices, and enable consumers to make informed purchasing decisions.

Results of the monitoring showed that all the inspected grocery stores and supermarkets are compliant with the SRPs set by the government. In terms of supply, store owners confirmed that their current stocks are sufficient to last for at least one month, indicating adequate inventory levels.

Despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and concerns over possible crude oil and gasoline supply shortages, no disruptions have been reported in the delivery of goods—particularly basic necessities and prime commodities—from Metro Manila and nearby provinces to Olongapo City and Zambales. Market conditions remain normal, with no incidents of hoarding or panic buying observed.

DTI Zambales assured the public that it will continue its regular monitoring, validation of product availability, and timely reporting to ensure accurate market information and uphold consumer protection in the province.
