PRO3 Enhances Mental Health Support Through Psychological Screening and Awareness Drive

PAMPANGA — Emphasizing that effective policing relies on healthy and resilient personnel, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) continues to reinforce its mental health initiatives through the conduct of Psychiatric and Psychological Examination (PPE) under the Bantay Kaisipan program, alongside an awareness campaign on mental health red flags.

Led by Police Colonel Jonathan S. Adanglao, Chief of the Regional Medical and Dental Unit 3 (RMDU3), the activity aims to help police personnel better understand mental health concerns, recognize early warning signs, and encourage timely support-seeking among both uniformed and non-uniformed members of the organization.

The initiative was facilitated by Police Captain Ventura P. Soriano, Chief Nurse and Psychologist; Police Captain Emery R. Abalajon, Psychometrician Police Commission-Officer (PCO); PEMS Lily Ambat; and PCMS Ethel Mae R. Buenaventura, Nurse Police Non-Commissioned Officers, who provided professional assessment, guidance, and distribution of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials on PNP Mental Health Red Flags and Mental Health Awareness.

The program forms part of PRO3’s continuing effort to ensure that personnel tasked to serve and protect the public are likewise given proper care and institutional support for their mental and emotional well-being.

PRO3 Regional Director Police Brig. General Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. underscored the importance of mental wellness in maintaining professionalism and operational readiness within the police organization.

“Our personnel face daily pressures and challenges in the performance of duty. It is important that we provide them with the support systems needed to maintain not only physical readiness but also mental and emotional well-being. Through programs like Bantay Kaisipan, we strengthen our people so they can continue serving the public effectively,” Peñones said.

The activity highlights PRO3’s sustained commitment to personnel welfare, aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda and its guiding principles of Protect the People, Pursue Peace and Order, and Promote Professionalism, while fostering a culture where mental health awareness and help-seeking are openly encouraged within the police service.
