BOC Clark – InteragencyTask Force Intercepts Nearly ₱7M Worth of Marijuana

CLARK FREEPORT—The Bureau of Customs (BOC)–Port of Clark, in coordination with the Clark Inter-Agency Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (CRK-IATFAID), intercepted nearly ₱7 million worth of high-grade marijuana concealed in a commercial cargo shipment earlier this month.

Customs authorities discovered the illegal drugs inside a shipment falsely declared as “steel brackets and fasteners” that arrived from France on January 26, 2026, and was bound for Taguig City. The shipment was flagged during routine risk assessment and subjected to further inspection under the X-ray Inspection Project, which revealed irregularities inconsistent with its declared contents.

A K-9 inspection conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) yielded a positive indication for the presence of dangerous drugs, prompting a full physical examination. Authorities recovered ten plastic bags containing dried leaves and fruiting tops suspected to be marijuana, locally known as “kush.”

The seized drugs weighed approximately 4,664 grams and had an estimated market value of ₱6.996 million. Laboratory analysis later confirmed that the substance was marijuana, classified as a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165, as amended.

The shipment was found to be in violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863), in relation to the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

BOC–Port of Clark District Collector Jairus S. Reyes said the interception underscored the effectiveness of the bureau’s risk profiling and inter-agency coordination. He noted that vigilance and non-intrusive inspection measures remain key in preventing illegal drugs from entering the country.

Preliminary reports showed that for January 2026 alone, the BOC–Port of Clark intercepted illegal drugs with a cumulative value of ₱21.258 million.
