91st Infantry Battalion Engages Youth on Peacebuilding and West Philippine Sea Awareness at UNLAD Kabataan Summit

NUEVA ECIJA — Reinforcing the role of the youth as vital partners in peace and nation-building, the 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion of the Philippine Army conducted a series of lectures on anti-insurgency and West Philippine Sea (WPS) awareness during the two-day UNLAD Kabataan Youth and Leadership Summit held on December 17–18, 2025, at Farm De Cita in Barangay Manicla, San Jose City.

The activity, carried out under the leadership of 91st IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Aries A. Quinto, aimed to empower young leaders with knowledge and values that promote peace, security, and informed civic participation. Troops from Charlie Company, led by Capt. Zamzamyn K. Dimasidsing, facilitated the lectures with operational support from Delta Company to ensure the orderly and secure conduct of the summit.

Participants were briefed on the government’s efforts to address insurgency, with discussions highlighting the importance of critical thinking, responsible citizenship, and vigilance against misinformation and deceptive narratives often used to influence the youth. The sessions emphasized how young people can contribute to maintaining peaceful and united communities by becoming informed advocates and positive role models within their respective localities.

A key component of the summit focused on West Philippine Sea awareness, where participants were provided with factual and objective information on national sovereignty, maritime rights, and the broader implications of protecting the country’s territorial integrity. The discussions sought to strengthen national consciousness and encourage constructive discourse grounded in facts and shared responsibility.

Organizers underscored that the youth play a crucial role in shaping resilient and patriotic communities. By equipping young leaders with accurate information and a deeper understanding of national issues, the initiative aimed to foster a generation that supports peacebuilding efforts and contributes meaningfully to national security through lawful and peaceful means.

The engagement forms part of the Philippine Army’s continuing commitment to youth development and community partnership, in coordination with local government units and youth organizations. Through initiatives such as the UNLAD Kabataan Youth and Leadership Summit, the 91st Infantry Battalion continues to advance its mission of educating, engaging, and empowering the next generation as steadfast partners in peace, national awareness, and nation-building.
