Climate Change Consciousness Week in Subic Bay Freeport

The Ecology Center of Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) recently launched a series of activities for Climate Change Consciousness Week which also coincides with SBMA’s 33rd anniversary in Subic Bay Freeport.

Below are photos of pocket events which kick-off on November 14 and culminates on the 17th Recyclable Collection Event at the Mini Golf Course on November 19, 2025.

Regional Science High School students emerge as the overall winner for their entry FLOKRA: Robotic Flocculation System, in the Basura Buster Coastal Innovation contest. SBMA Ecology Center OIC Ms. Rossell L. Abuyo (2nd from right), Department of Trade and Industry –Zambales Division Chief Neil John Fabay (left), and Century Tuna representative Ms. Jude Anne Culangan (right), gave the award.  

The FLOKRA uses Okra for microplastic removal in the aquatic system. 

Barretto Senior High School students, together with their adviser Romnick O. Seguiban , receive the Community Sea Saver Award presented by Century Tuna for their W.I.S.E. (Wire-mesh Installation for Sustainable Environment), in the SalikSEAk Project Proposal Competition. 

Barretto Senior High School receive the SalikSEAk , for their outstanding effort in developing practical community-based strategies to reduce solid waste to save our seas.

Pamatawan Elementary School Teacher Eric M. Dumlao engages school children in a Climate Change Stories 2025 storytelling session at the Banaue Event Center of Pacific Ace Building in Subic Bay Freeport on Tuesday, November 18.
