CAMP BGEN VICENTE P. LIM, Calamba City — Authorities in Balayan, Batangas have recovered an estimated PHP20.25 million worth of suspected dried marijuana or kush that was found floating off the West Philippine Sea and later washed ashore in Barangay San Piro on the morning of November 2, 2025.
According to reports, the Balayan Municipal Police Station received a phone call from Barangay Chairperson Roderick Reyes Delos Reyes, who reported the discovery of several rice sacks containing suspected illegal drugs along the shoreline. Acting promptly on the report, police personnel were dispatched to verify the information and conduct an on-site investigation.

Upon arrival, the responding team confirmed the presence of six (6) rice sacks containing twenty-seven (27) packs of dried marijuana/kush weighing approximately 13.5 kilograms. Based on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) standard drug price, the confiscated contraband is valued at around PHP20,250,000.00.
Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth T. Lucas, Regional Director of Police Regional Office CALABARZON (PRO4A), commended the vigilance of the local barangay officials and the swift response of the Balayan police.
“The timely report of our concerned citizens and barangay officials demonstrates the spirit of cooperation that strengthens our fight against illegal drugs. We will not lower our guard and will continue to enhance our maritime and coastal patrol operations to deter drug trafficking activities in our region,” Police Brig. General Lucas said.
He further emphasized that PRO CALABARZON remains fully committed to maintaining drug-free and safe communities, in line with the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) focused agenda to intensify anti-drug operations across the region.
The recovered illegal drugs have since been turned over to the Batangas Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination and proper disposition. (Jason de Asis)
