ZAMBALES—A male senior citizen included in the regional target list of drug personalities was collared by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) following a buy-bust operation at around 3:55 p.m. in Barangay Matain, Subic town (October 1).
The operation resulted in the confiscation of Php 170,000.00 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu.
The PDEA team leader identified the arrested suspect as alias Elmer, 60 years old, a resident of Purok 1 Aplaya, Barangay Matain, Subic.

The suspect who did not resist arrest yielded seven (7) pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing more or less 25 grams of shabu valued at Php 170,000.00 and the buy-bust money used by the undercover PDEA agent.
The suspect will be temporarily detained at the PDEA RO3 jail facility in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The operation was through the collaborative effort of PDEA provincial offices in Tarlac and Zambales and the local police.
Charges for violation of section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), and section 15 (use of dangerous drugs) under Republic Act 9165 are now being readied for filing. Section 5 is a non-bailable offense that carries the penalty of life imprisonment and a fine ranging from Php 500,000 to 10 million pesos.
